Odorless Sunless Tanners

Most sunless tanners work great in lengthening your tan and improving your overall skin condition, but let's face it – not all of them smell good. In fact, many of these products either tend to smell like medicine, or have perfume-like scents that are too strong for comfort. It's a good thing there are odorless sunless tanners, which have the same tan-enhancing and skin-protecting properties of regular sunless tanners, but have no smell.

Benefits of using odorless sunless tanners

Odorless sunless tanners can be applied generously because you never have to worry about its smell clashing with your favorite perfume or cologne. These products are specially-formulated to be ant-streak, anti-drip, and odorless for easier application and manageability. And while most of them still contain naturally fragrant natural ingredients such as aloe vera, fruit extracts, and oils, special prescriptions have been added into them for fragrance neutralization. The result are easy-to-use, odorless sunless tanners that work just as hard as regular, scented versions.

Odorless sunless tanners are also great for people who have allergic reactions to fragrances. These products do not induce diseases such as contact dermatitis, where rashes appear on the facial area, on the hands and on the arms. Skin reactions such as this can be particularly debilitating, because the affected area may severely swell, turn very red, and become very painful. Some fragrant sunless tanners also have allergens that may even cause sore mouths and lip rashes. That is why more and more people are switching to odorless sunless tanners – they are relatively safer but are still effective.

Should I switch to odorless sunless tanners?

If you are one of the many people sensitive to fragrances, then yes, it is time you switch. How do you know if you are allergic to fragrance? Do a simple patch test., try putting a small amount of fragrant lotion on the back of your hand and see if you experience any discomfort. If you feel itchiness or sudden sensitivity, you may be allergic to fragrances – and you should definitely switch to odorless sunless tanners.

But hold on. Before you do a patch test, consult with a doctor first. He or she will advise you as to whether or not you should take the test, and also recommend products that you can use to test your skin with (usually cosmetics and lotions). It would be better if you tested your skin with a fragrant sunless tanner.

When you are ready to take the test and find out if you should switch to odorless sunless tanners, never go overboard. Apply only a small amount of the product to either the bend of your arm or your neck. Do this for several days in a row. Inspect the area everyday and see if any allergic reaction occurs.

Are odorless sunless tanners more expensive?

No, not generally. Odorless sunless tanners and fragrant sunless tanners are in the same price range. There are even instances when odorless sunless tanners are sold for less, not because the lack of odor makes them cheaper, but because of overstocks.
